NDIS & Occupational Therapy
Navigating the NDIS can feel overwhelming. This page explains how the NDIS works, where occupational therapy fits, and how to get started with Limitless Me Therapy. If you’re unsure about anything, you’re always welcome to get in touch and I’ll help you work it out.
How the NDIS works
The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to access supports that help them pursue their goals and live more independently. In brief, the journey usually looks like:
- Access — check your eligibility and make an access request.
- Planning — meet with the NDIS to talk through your goals and build your plan.
- Using your plan — choose the providers and supports that suit you.
- Reviews — your plan is reviewed over time as your needs and goals change.
New to the scheme? Start with What is the NDIS, and see the people who can help you — including plan managers and support coordinators.
Types of NDIS funding
Every plan is different, but NDIS funding generally falls into three budgets:
- Core Supports — everyday assistance, consumables, transport, and help to take part in the community.
- Capacity Building Supports — supports that build your skills and independence over time. Occupational therapy usually sits here, under “Improved Daily Living.”
- Capital Supports — higher-cost items such as assistive technology and home modifications.
Where your OT funding sits depends on your individual plan and goals — your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm what’s available.
